Good evening all,
A late blog at the end of a busy yet brilliant first day on our residential trip. The weather has been beautiful all day and the roads clear on our trip across to Devon.
We stopped at Buckfast Abbey for lunch before having time to explore the grounds including: the fantastic (and peaceful) gardens, picturesque church and stunning landscape. The children then met a monk in a Q and A session with some great questions including 'What do you have for supper?' and 'What do you do if you don't want to be a monk any longer?'. Around spending time with the monks, the children got to explore how the church was built as well as investigating the strength of the structure; even building their own bridges and spiral staircases.
After arriving at the farm, the children unpacked their suitcases and made their beds before getting the 'Grand Tour' from Farmer Phil. The excitement in the children for the opportunity to look after the farm animals was amazing and least not for the new farm puppy 'Baloo'. After time with the animals, the children had a delicious and filling dinner with ice cream for desert!
After a fun and relaxing evening activity, singing songs and eating marshmallows, the children had a story before settling down for a good night's sleep before we head off to Morwellham Quay tomorrow with more photos to follow.
