Our Vision for RE
At our school, Religious Education is designed to provoke thoughtful and challenging questions about the meaning and purpose of life, beliefs, the self and issues of right and wrong exploring what it means to be human. Through the study of Christianity, other principal religions and diverse religious traditions, our children will develop their knowledge and understanding while engaging in personal reflection and spiritual growth.
We encourage our children to explore their own beliefs, whether religious or non-religious, in light of their learning. This exploration fosters critical thinking about faith, belief and ethics, helping children to express their responses confidently. By doing so, our curriculum also builds resilience against anti-democratic or extremist narratives, supporting our children in forming balanced and respectful viewpoints.
Religious Education at our school supports our children in developing a strong sense of identity and belonging, helping them to flourish within their communities and as active citizens in a diverse society. Our children learn to respect and value others, including those of different faiths and beliefs and to challenge prejudice wherever they encounter it.
Through RE, our children are prompted to consider their responsibilities to themselves, others and society at large. They are encouraged to cultivate empathy, generosity, and compassion and to explore meaningful ways to contribute positively to their communities and the wider world.
