Maths Learning at Anton Junior

Our maths curriculum ensures all National Curriculum objectives are covered from year 3 to year 6, and where there are specific special educational needs, we offer a bespoke curriculum with adaptations to meet individual need.

We follow a planning model (designed by Hampshire) which enables pupils to learn, revisit, consolidate and reason to ensure knowledge and skills are embedded, and they are able to make connections and apply.

‘Mathematics is an interconnected subject in which pupils need to be able to move fluently between representations of mathematical ideas. The programmes of study are, by necessity, organised into apparently distinct domains, but pupils  should make rich connections across mathematical ideas to develop fluency, mathematical reasoning and competence in solving increasingly sophisticated problems.’ National Curriculum 2014
